Please read the following terms and conditions. If you need to discuss anything, feel free to contact us – we’ll do our best to be flexible.
Booking Terms & Conditions
By booking accommodation with us, the client agrees to the following:
1. Booking & Payment
- A non-refundable deposit of 25% is payable at the time of reservation.
- Full payment is due one month before the arrival date.
- If cancellation occurs within one month of arrival, all monies will be forfeited unless the cottage is rebooked. In that case, an admin fee of £50 or 15% (whichever is greater) will apply.
- In line with GDPR regulations, sensitive information is retained for one week after your stay, after which credit card details are securely destroyed.
- We do not share personal information with third parties.
2. Arrival & Departure
- Check-in: from 3:00 pm on the day of arrival
- Check-out: by 10:00am on the day of departure
3. Occupancy
- The number of guests must not exceed that agreed at booking. Breach of this condition may result in termination of your stay without refund.
4. Cleanliness & Damage
- The cottage must be left in a clean and tidy condition.
- Any breakages or damage must be reported and recompense made within one week.
5. Behaviour & Respect for Others
- We reserve the right to terminate the stay of any guest whose behaviour is detrimental to others’ comfort, without recompense.
- Please respect other guests and keep noise to a minimum after 10:00pm.
6. Smoking
- No smoking is permitted in any of the properties.
7. Property Access
- We reserve the right to enter the property at reasonable times for inspection, repairs, or maintenance.
8. Cancellations by Us
- If we must cancel your reservation due to unforeseen circumstances, we will issue a full refund. No further compensation will be offered.
9. Liability
- We are not liable for loss, damage, or theft of guests’ personal property (including vehicles and contents).
- We are also not liable for accidents or injuries sustained on the property.
10. Complaints or Issues
- Please notify us as soon as possible of any issues or complaints so we can assist or make alternative arrangements.
- Due to the short duration of stays, some issues may not be fixable during your stay, but we will do our best.
11. Wi-Fi
- We provide free Wi-Fi, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Please read the full Wi-Fi Terms & Conditions below.
12. Longer Stays
- For stays longer than one week, we provide clean linen and towels (timing to be agreed).
- Cleaning during your stay may be arranged by prior discussion.
13. Travel Insurance
- Please ensure you have your own travel insurance, as we do not provide this.

Please review the following information regarding internet usage during your stay:
1. Extent of the Service
- Use of the internet is entirely at your own risk.
- We do not control or endorse the internet services you access and cannot guarantee they are virus or error-free.
- We do not guarantee:
- Service availability
- Internet speed
- Compatibility with your devices or software
- While we take reasonable security measures, we cannot guarantee the safety of your data. You are responsible for your own digital security.
- We may modify or withdraw the service at any time.
2. Your Use of the Service
You must not use the internet service to access or share content that:
- Is defamatory, threatening, or harassing
- Contains obscene or offensive material
- Is sexually explicit or pornographic
- Contains discriminatory or hate-related content
- Infringes copyright or other legal rights
- Is otherwise unlawful or inappropriate
Additionally:
- Do not download or share copyrighted material unless you are authorised.
- We may suspend or terminate your access if we believe these terms are violated.
- We recommend not transmitting sensitive data via the service.
3. Criminal Activity
- Illegal internet activity is strictly prohibited.
- We may be required to assist law enforcement by logging IP addresses and usage activity.
- You agree we may share information with authorities if required by law.
4. Use of Your Information
- Your contact information will be used only to send you updates, offers, and relevant information related to Cantick Head Lighthouse Cottages.
5. Legal & Liability
- You agree to compensate us for any legal claims resulting from your misuse of the service.
- We are not liable for:
- Financial loss
- Loss of data or business
- Service interruptions
- Equipment damage
- This agreement does not create any legal agency or third-party enforcement rights.
6. Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the law of Scotland and subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
