"A lovely welcome - your tray of local goodies were much appreciated. Thank you. Beautiful neat, tidy, comfortable, well-equipped cottage with stunning views and cosy too - lovely! We've had a great time exploring on foot, bike & in the car. Managed to dodge the rain - it seemed to happen overnight, conveniently. Will recommend this place to friends & family. Thanks very much once again, P & T" MUSSELBURGH

"We have had an absolutely fabulous week and are sad to be leaving even though we have a further week's holiday on the West coast of Scotland. We have fallen in love with the Orkneys and especially Hoy. There is so much beauty in the landscape, sea, wildlife, birds and flowers. The history of the area is an added bonus and the friendliness of everyone we have met has been a joy. The cottage and the lighthouse make for a spectacular setting and we felt at home immediately. The attention to detail in the cottage is great and the 'welcome pack' a really generous addition. Thank you both for the care and attention and advice! We really hope to come back one day!" "Short break for the two of us - a 50th Birthday surprise. We have both relaxed and enjoyed the comforts of the cottage with the peace of the location. Enjoyed seeing wildlife and did the walk up to Old Man of Hoyt - which was stunning and well worth it. Locals we have met in our short trip were all very friendly. Thank you very much" BURY, LANCASHIRE

"We enjoyed it so much the first time, we decided to bring the parents along this time and as expected they too had a fantastic holiday. So much to see and do and most of it right on your very doorstep. They were lucky enough to get 13 year firsts! (birding talk!!) including an amazing 25 purple Sandpiper on the rocks below the lighthouse. The 'Welcome Tray' as ever was, well, very welcoming and the warmth & hospitality shown ensured that we felt relaxed during our short stay. An absolutely perfect setting to truly appreciate the varied wildlife at its best. A thoroughly enjoyable experience for all of us and one we would all like the opportunity to try again. Thanks for the memories & the very cosy cottage." COVENTRY & INVERNESS

We've thoroughly enjoyed the island and the garden when the weather was fine and sunny and when the rain came, we happily retreated into the cottage and enjoyed the books, videos and games. Our children were thrilled with their room and all the thought that had gone into preparing it for them. We have read the local history and guide books, which has added to the enjoyment of our Orkney experience. Basically, we don't want to go home! OXFORD ~ Recommend 5 stars

"This an amazing place to stay. The cottage is so comfortable with a fantastic choice of CD's and Videos. The island of South Walls has great walks (especially either direction along coast from Snelsetter farm). Hoy has the Old Man (a must) also the walk through the 'glen' to Rackwick. Everyone we have met has been friendly and helpful. Would recommend the cafe at Scapa Flow museum, Lyness - wonderful cakes and home made soup. You have made the cottage so comfortable that on many days it was hard for us to leave "Home". You planned so many special touches: the books, games, CD player. We especially enjoyed the Queen's 80th birthday celebration on the TV. There are spectacular views out of every window. We were entertained by the chickens, the sheep and Charlie! The large soft bath towels were luxurious and we go home with a new fondness for chutney and cheese." ANNISTON, ALABAMA ~ Recommend 5 stars very high

We were prepared for cold, rain, wind, etc & enjoyed sunny days instead. The cottage has been lovingly & tastefully renovated & decorated. The kitchen is ideal for self-catering, compact & efficient. The islanders are very friendly & helpful, we drove, hiked, bird watched & enjoyed all the sights. The Scapa Flow museum is a treasure & the NAAFI canteen is a big plus for tourists and locals. "Cottage beautifully restored - all the ingredients for a great treat. Place is steeped in history & we very much felt honoured to be here. Catherine's great grandfather served in the great war so he probably passed through Scapa Flow & my grandfather was at Jutland aged 16. Location wise stunning, Hoy was equally impressive. Sense of isolation was welcome after the organised chaos of city life in Manchester. We walked on a beach & heard the sheep eating - whereas in the city you barely hear yourself think. "For location, accommodation, comfort and hospitality this has been an outstanding holiday. The information on the website and in the welcome book has been very helpful. For anyone who likes scenery, wildlife, walking and quiet this is a 4 or 5* place. We plan to return!" BEDMINSTER, BRISTOL

"A very friendly welcome after a long day on the road, some Orkney goodies to tuck in to with a lovely glass of wine Perfect! and after this things just kept getting better. If the weather is wild outside then relax with a good movie or one of the games. For the fishermen/women - good fishing to be had along the cliffs and a cast in Heldale Loch for the brownies can be very productive. Thanks again." CLACKMANNANSHIRE ~ Recommend 4 stars

"Perfect!" BLACKPOOL ~ Recommend 5 stars

"Scenic, remote location excellent. Family accommodation worked very well, with good facilities for adults (e.g. digital TV + video stocks) and the little boy was most amused by the various livestock in the secure garden area. Fixtures and furnishings were all of a very good standard. Helpful attitude of host appreciated. On first arrival, the initial impression was very pleasant, the combination of comfortable lodgings with the unique character of Hoy has resulted in a very successful holiday. Thank you." "Everything about our stay here has been fantastic! We have learnt that it is better to ignore the weather forecasts as it usually does the opposite! The beautiful weather has really been a bonus, but we would have enjoyed it whatever. This is the best equipped and most warm comfortable cottage in which we have ever stayed. It is so beautiful here and we have loved seeing all of the wildlife especially the seals, porpoise, sea birds and fishing from the rocks outside. It has been wonderful sitting in the sun, watching the sea, drinking wine and being able to do it all without going anywhere! We are leaving totally relaxed!" TELFORD ~ Recommend 5 stars

"A very enjoyable and relaxing holiday. The facilities were as good as we've found in any holiday cottage anywhere (and we've been to quite a few) & far better than most. Beautiful location - especially being able to look at the sea without stirring outside on bad weather days. The kitchen was so well equipped that we've eaten in every night. Also very helpful having someone on hand to explain all the appliances." NORTHUMBERLAND ~ Recommend 5 stars

"Thank you for a lovely relaxing week. Views & location fabulous. One of the best locations we've stayed in, it is so comfortable." WIGAN ~ Recommend 5 stars

"Everything was perfect! We have had a wonderful time, the weather has been dry making the fantastic sea views from the cottage even better! We managed to see lots of wildlife including seals on our early morning beach jaunts. Your decoration and furnishing of the cottage is perfect - extremely sympathetic to the cottage age. The shower in the bathroom was superb! I loved the flooring in there and everything! I could easily live here! We wanted to get away from it all - this has been more than we could have asked for! Thank you so much!" PELSALL ~ Recommend 5 stars

"This is one of the most well equipped and tastefully decorated cottages we've stayed at. Attention to detail in all ways meant we wanted for nothing and were pleasantly surprised at your thoughtful touches. We spent many happy hours nestled in the grass above the cliff watching the sea - it's very well protected from the wind and breathtakingly lovely." CHISWICK ~ Recommend 5 stars

"We have had a very enjoyable week. The weather has been kind to us and allowed us to enjoy the wonderful scenery. The cottage was a lovely warm place to come back to at the end of the day. We found your hospitality to be warm, helpful & welcoming - an exceptional holiday for the lighthouse enthusiast." BELGIUM

"We could not have asked for a better equipped house. You dealt with any questions or requests promptly and in a very friendly manner. Thank you for all your pointers for good places to go. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Whilst the weather was changeable we always found something to do - the monopoly was well used on the wet afternoon! The amount of sea life right on the doorstep was tremendous and great rocks for climbing on around the cliffs where we saw a lot of seals. The walk out to the Old Man was one of the highlights especially because the sun shone all day - we saw lots of Puffins both on the cliffs and in flight." FIFE ~ Recommend 5 stars.

"You come here because of the location - it's remote in relative terms but that is what you expect. Thanks from all of 4 of us! Great time - would have liked to spend more time here but that wasn't feasible. Best wishes and thanks for your hospitality and kindness." AUSTRALIA ~ Recommend 5 stars
